Board of Directors
- The board has begun researching a full trap field set-up. They provided so preliminary costs for clay pigeon throwers. They will be submitting a comprehensive plan before the spring for the club membership to review.
- The board will be establishing a call-tree or similar mechanism for notifying members of canceled club events in the event of bad weather.
Committee Reports
- Hunter Safety - Great class this year - we had a full house. Ove 60 people contacted us to attend, but due to size of the clubhouse we limited it to 30. Thanks to all those who helped ot - Alan Johnson, Tim Corbin, Scotty, Bill Thorpe, Marty Gilbert, Matt Thorpe, Josh Atherton, and Brian Moses
- Raffle - The winner of the raffle elected to take the $300 cash. As a result we will raffle the rifle off at the Christmas party. Tickets are $5 a piece, and you must be present to win. It was also reported that we did not take in as much income for this years raffle - in 2009 we will look for ways to get back to our 2006-2007 ticket sale level.
- New Overhang - On Saturday Oct 4th a crew replaced the overhang outside the downstairs door. It looks great and will no doubt last many years. Thanks to all of those who helped out - Gary Morrison, Paul Smith, Shaun Mohan, and Tom Whiting. Also speacial thanks to Jeff Flagg for getting the material at a significant savings from Brock's - plus Jeff's own donations. Also thanks to Romeo Fortin for installing the posts a few weeks before.
- Pig Roast - Great Pig Roast this year and good attendance. Thanks to Paul Smith for cooking the pig and to Romeo Fortin for running the event.
Bills and Communications
- West Newfield Store bill needs to be paid - $80
Old Business
- Bob McHugh will be installing the heater in the basement before the Novemeber meeting
- George Depetris had the winning bid for the club wood stove ($150)
- We have received 1 bid for snowplowing. Bob McHugh will also be submitting a bid. We want to determine who wins the plowing contract by mid-Oct so if anyone else wants to submit a bid get it into a club officer or BOD member before that date.
New Business
- Deer Pool - Two winners - split pot - biggest doe & biggest buck. Get your $5 into Romeo Fortin. You must have a signed note from the the tagging station with the weight of the deer. Deer can be taken in Maine or NH.
- 5 new members voted in this month
- Phesants - several club members helped stock 25 birds at the Vernon Walker track on 9/30. We will look into raising some birds of our own in 2009.
- Food Plot - we are considering planting a food plot for deer next spring.
- We will be taking nominations for club officers and BOD members at the Novemeber meeting. We are looking for a treasurer - please let any officer know if you are interested in this position.
- We are putting together a club cookbook. Please send your receipts to Nancy @ blackrussian421@yahoo.com
- We will soon be ordering new club merchandise - shirts, hats, sweatshirts - etc. Please send your ideas for new designs to Nancy @ blackrussian421@yahoo.com
