Hunter Safety

The next Hunter Safety class is scheduled for Wednesday September 5th from 6-9:00PM and Saturday September 15th from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. This is a home-study program. Please contact Tim Corbin (207-793-4512) or Alan Johnson (207-636-2709) to sign up.

Club Auction

We would like to thank everyone who helped out at the auction this year - it was tremendous success and may have set a record in terms of profitability. Special thanks to Romeo Fortin who once again coordinated and ran an outstanding event.

o        Membership report - Read and accepted

o       Board of Directors

·        Recommended approval of 1 new members

·        Reported that Rusty Loring can help us out with any earthwork on the property. We need to start putting a plan together for the trap range.

·        Insurance next year for the gun show will be $750 - which will take a big chunk out of our profits from the event.  But it has been determined

this is a must do for next years event.

·        Recommended a new generator - see new business section below.

Committee Reports

Annual Raffle - We continue to sell tickets and have plenty available for sale. See any club officer or Board member for more tickets

Club Auction - Great event - very profitably - possibly best ever!

Work Party/Overhang enclosed -  Tremendous progress was made closing in the overhang. Romeo reported that he has two old garage doors that he

can combine to make one good door out of.

Hunter Safety - 9/5 and 9/15. Contact Alan Jordan or Tim Corbin for details

Acton Fair - We will be mailing in the table rental payment and insurance binder this week. Shawn Mohan is chairing the event and needs help manning the

table. The event runs 8/23 - 8/28 and we need help during the day to cover the table. Contact Tim Corbin (207-793-4512) with the dates and times you

can man the table. This is a big fund raiser event for the club (raffle ticket sales) so we appreciate anyone who can come and help out.

Old Business

Lawn mower/tractor - has broken down - Romeo is assessing what it will take to fix it. Needs a bearing assembley (estimated $150)

New Business

-- Please pick up after yourself when you use the rifle range. We are finding a lot of brass on the ground of late - and even found some live rounds.

    PLEASE PICK UP  AFTER YOURSELVES.

-- 2 new members voted in.

-- Generator - Now that the kitchen is operational we are seeing that our generator is not providing the power we need to run everything. We also feel

we are several years  away from electricity being available on Lewis Hill road (and at significant cost to the club). As a result Richard Joiner has done

some research on a new generator for the  club and presented the findings to the board of directors (Thank You Richard)!) The board recommended

that we move forward on this so we can have it in  place/operational as soon as possible (by the pig roast if possible, and worst case by the start of the

deer hunting season in support of a hunters breakfeast). We prefer a  propain generator. The membership approved up to $5000 for the purchase and

installation of a generator, and formed a sub committee to make this a reality (Gary  Morrison, Richard Joiner and Chris Dudley). In the event they

determine the cost needs to be above the $5000 appropriated they will come back to the BOD and    membership.

-- Special Gun Raffle - A club member has donated two guns to the club. The original intent was to auction them off at the auction but we decided to

    hold a club-only  raffle  instead. The guns are a Savage Model 187R 22 short semi-auto and a Stevens Model 58 12GA bolt action with a Poly-Choke.

Raffle tickets will be $1 a peice

and  will  be on sale through the christmas party - at which time we will raffle off the guns.

Bills & Communications

-- Acton Fair - sending in the table rental payment

-- Moulton Lumber - material to enclose the overhang

-- Received many raffle ticket stubs and payments back from various members - thanks!
