Payment of dues must be made by 1/31/2008. If you fail to pay your dues before that date and you wish to remain a member of the club then you will need to go through the new member process.

Changing the monthly meeting night from the first Friday of the month to the first Thursday of the month is being considered. If you have an opinion please let an officer or board member know, or better yet attend the February meetimg.

January Meeting Highlights

Secretary's report read and accepted
Treasurer's report read and accepted. Year End 2007 Summary is available in paper format from the Treasurer.

Approved 1 new member and 1 new Life member (Steven Anderson)
Discussed written complaint received from Craig Richardson around the process for determining who will be plowing the club premises each year. The Board recognizes that there is currently no formal process for determining who is granted the snow plowing contract. Starting next winter a defined process will be implemented. A letter was written up and signed by the board of Directors and the Club Officers who were present and sent to Craig.
Discussed changing the monthly meeting night from the first Friday of the month to the first Thursday of the month.
Discussed the deer pool and ways that we can get additional people in the pool.
Committee Reports
The Christmas Party was a success. Raffle winners were Clayton Chute ($50), Richard Joiner ($100) and Roger Joiner ($150). The children's toys collected at the party were delivered to local fire departments and Caring Unlimited.
Ice Fishing Derby - Date of the event has changed to Feb 16th because that is free fishing weekend in Maine. The location of the event has also changed to lower Mousam lake behind Lakeside Marina. Adults will be charge $5 and kids will be charged $2. Food will be provided as part of the adminission fee, and trophies for all major fish categoroes will be awarded to both adults and kids. All kids will also receive a ribbon for participation. There will also be a "lunker" contest which is open to everyone for $5 - 50% to winner and 50% to the club. We will also have numerous raffles throughout the day.
Hunter Safety Class - Wednesday March 12th 6:00PM - 9:00PM and Saturday March 22nd 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Thank you letter was received from St. Mathew's church and a thank you card from Beth Thompson/Richard Joiner at Massabesic High School for the Christmas donations the club made.

Discussed changing the monthly meeting night from the first Friday of the month to the first Thursday of the month. There seeming to be more interest in such a change but the membership felt we should communicate this in the newsletter to get more feedback. Any change to the meeting night will require a by-laws change.
Discussed expading the deer pool - participation has been very low. We need to start the process much earlier in the year - such as having it as an agenda item under old business starting in August. Also cover it at the Sept Pig Roast. We also discussed expaning the pool to non-members - but this is complicated due to officially weighing the deer on the same scales and the complexities of not being able to take NH harvested deer into Maine. The decision for 2008 is to more activly promote this to club members in 2008 to increase participation. We will also have a more fomal process for reporting each harvest.
The chimmney was plugged with ice and snow. Club approved purchase of a chimmney cap. Shaun Mohan will be purchasing one.
